Guy Nelson Wilkinson (October 23, 1956 - May 10, 2011) Known to friends as “Buddy”, Guy Nelson Wilkinson was born October 23, 1956 in Angleton, Texas and passed away peacefully in New Orleans Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
After graduating from Sweeny High School, Buddy attended the Pipefitter’s Apprenticeship Program for certification in what would become a lifelong and greatly rewarding career in Management and Sales of Field Service Equipment, and which led to a thirty-five year membership with the Local 211 in Houston, Texas.
Buddy was an essential and elemental part of the success in his field, yet most notably at WACH’S, a company where he remained well respected by the multitude of friends he left behind as he took a his final post with NCA, the company he reluctantly retired from due to his illness in 2008.
Throughout his life, Buddy was associated with the Masonic Lodge in De Quincy, Louisiana, the Houston Arabia Shiners’ and Scottish Rite. Buddy was also active in a variety of community based groups such as Hold ‘Em and Hit ‘Em, HLSR and too many others to mention, as he was incredibly dedicated to helping those in need any chance he found. From the river to the sea, Buddy turned his love of water sports into a hobby that resulted in a PADI certification in Deep Sea Diving and he held a great love of boating, floating and fishing.
Buddy’s tragic and untimely departure has left an incredible void in a vast community of loved ones yet notably his loss will be most deeply felt by his closest survivors that include his beloved wife Katie Wilkinson, with whom he made a life in St Amant, Louisiana, his sunshine Lacie Holman with Jared Barado, his son Jakeb Holman, his siblings and their spouses; sisters Carlene and Roy McGehee, Bobbie Lee and Mike Foster, Mary and Billy Reichart, his brother James and Teresa Hester and their respective families.
His father Billie Wayne Wilkinson, his mother Mabel Evelyn Cottongame Wilkinson and his brother-in-law David Lee, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Lew Curatolo, Gary Nugent, John Clark, Tim Sheehan, Robert Spears, and Darren Depew. Honorary Pallbearers are Terry Tackett and Steve Marcaurele. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM at Baker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Baker Funeral Home Chapel in West Columbia on Saturday at 2 PM. Rev. Dr. Nelson Lee will be officiating.
